Dr. Tiffany Allen graduated with her Doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology with a specialization in Infant-Preschool Mental Health in May, 2013. While in graduate school, she completed training at Exceptional Parents Unlimited – Assessment Center for Children in Fresno, California. Her training included exposure to a plethora of assessment tools and training modalities for working with very young children. Dr. Allen then completed her pre-doctoral internship with the Boulder Institute for Psychotherapy and Research where she was actively involved in the Zero to Five program providing assessments, therapy and therapeutic preschool programing to children and their families. While completing her internship, Dr. Allen started her own business, Mindful Play, where she facilitates developmental play-based groups that provide a fun, supportive environment for parents and babies to come together and learn while building strong, healthy relationships. Additionally, Dr. Allen’s research interests include Postpartum Traumatic Stress Disorder and using EMDR with postpartum women and young children.
Dr. Allen came to infant mental health after being a licensed professional counselor in New Mexico for four years. During that time she worked as a therapist and program director for an agency that supported run away and homeless youth. Dr. Allen has been a member of CoAIMH for three years and recently completed the endorsement process for IMH-E(R), III. Outside of her academical training and professional experience, Dr Allen is the mother of an amazing 4 year old son who has provided many opportunities to help bridge the gap from knowledge to application.
